My friend currently was caught, bestbuy did an investigation and found out he had stole just over $125 in giftcards. What he did was when a customer buys a certain bundle or an item as a promotion they get a $10-$25 free gift card at the end of the transaction. The customers are not charged anything for them. What he did was not tell the customer that they got it and instead held onto them. Now bestbuy has found out that people did not receive those giftcards. He hasn’t used any of them instead he just shredded them. He is worried about the legal problems he probally with soon face. What laws did he break and what’s the maximum or minmuim punnishment, will the Military decline him because of this? We looked it up and all we could find was if you steal over $300 dollars or something it’s a felony. Please help.
